There’s nothing quite like the thrill of photographing a surprise proposal—especially when you’re trying to be invisible on the cliffs of La Jolla with a camera the size of a small spaceship. Maddy and Louis’ big moment was set against the most breathtaking backdrop: crashing waves, golden sunlight, and a peaceful ocean breeze. Meanwhile, I was doing my best undercover tourist impression, silently praying I wouldn’t accidentally give the whole thing away.
